On January 17, the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park said that it is implementing the construction of a dossier for nomination to recognize the World Natural Heritage for the 3rd time according to aesthetic criteria.
According to the Management Board of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, the conservation, management of forests and promotion of the value of Phong Nha - Ke Bang World Natural Heritage continue to achieve many positive results.
Special-use forest ecosystems and heritage values are protected intact, forest cover is maintained stably at about 95%, and no hotspots of illegal logging or forest fires arise.
In the field of biodiversity research and conservation, the National Park has effectively implemented rescue and wildlife conservation activities, with a successful rescue rate of over 93%, exceeding the set target.

In 2025, the unit implemented two provincial-level scientific projects and recorded more new animal and plant species for science, contributing to affirming the outstanding global value of the Heritage.
Along with that, the Garden Management Board continues to promote the application of science and technology and digital transformation in forest resource management, biodiversity monitoring and heritage conservation, through technologies such as photo traps, SMART software, digitized data and artificial intelligence.
Regarding the promotion of heritage values associated with tourism development, Phong Nha - Ke Bang has put into operation new eco-tourism products, including the "Truong Son Route - Command Cave" route, and has also been approved by the Provincial People's Committee to implement eco-tourism projects in many potential areas. In 2025, routes and tourist attractions in the National Park welcomed more than 893,000 visitors, with total revenue reaching over 314 billion VND.
In 2026, the Garden Management Board identified the key task as completing the Heritage Management Plan for the new phase, coordinating with departments and branches to advise the Provincial People's Committee to carry out procedures to submit to UNESCO for additional recognition of the title of World Biosphere Reserve and build a dossier to nominate for the 3rd World Natural Heritage according to aesthetic criteria.
The construction of the 3rd nomination dossier is considered a strategic step to continue to enhance the international position of Phong Nha - Ke Bang, while creating a solid foundation for long-term conservation, sustainable tourism development and effective promotion of the outstanding global values of the Heritage.
