Quang Tri strengthens international medical quarantine at Cha Lo International Border Gate
The provincial health sector closely monitors people, vehicles, and import and export goods to prevent epidemics at Cha Lo International Border Gate.

On June 4, Quang Tri Department of Health said that a working delegation led by Mr. Tran Van Thinh - Deputy Director of the Department as head of the delegation inspected and directed international medical quarantine activities at Cha Lo International Border Gate. The delegation was also attended by Mr. Nguyen Kim Thanh - Director of the Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) and leaders of professional departments.
According to a report by the Department of International Health Quarantine, from January 1 to May 31, 2026, at Cha Lo International Border Gate, 78,834 vehicle trips were monitored, 34,268 medical trips were handled; 205,950 tons of goods and 169,839 people were quarantined. Currently, no suspected cases of infectious diseases have been detected.
However, in the context of Ebola, Marburg, Nipah, Hanta, MERS-CoV and emerging and re-emerging diseases developing complicatedly in the world, the risk of epidemics entering through trade and travel is always present. Deputy Director Tran Van Thinh requested the Provincial CDC to fully implement quarantine activities according to its functions, international health regulations and develop timely response plans.
At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen automatic body temperature monitoring, early identification of suspected cases, strictly implement the quarantine process for people, vehicles, and goods; promote communication, electronic medical declaration, prepare facilities, chemicals, and medical supplies. When suspected cases are detected, they must be temporarily isolated, reported and coordinated to handle according to regulations.
The working delegation also emphasized the inter-sectoral coordination between Border Gate Health Quarantine, Customs, Border Guards, Animal and Plant Quarantine, Port Authority and local health agencies to improve the effectiveness of disease control, prevent epidemic intrusion, and protect people's health.
Through this inspection activity, the Quang Tri Health sector affirms its determination to proactively prevent, detect early and respond effectively to the risks of infectious diseases, contributing to ensuring health security and local socio-economic development.
