Provincial activities mark 60 years of Dien Bien Phu Victory

(Quang Binh Website) - On the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2014), the provincial top leaders on May 7 laid a wreath and offered incense at the Ba Doc Martyrs' Cemetery (Bo Trach district) and the grave of late General Vo Nguyen Giap (Quang Trach district).

Present at the event were Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Hoang Dang Quang; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai; members of the Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee together with representatives of departments and branches in the province.

At the ceremony, leaders rang the bell, laid a wreath, offered incense and observed a minute of silence in tribute to heroic martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Then, leaders burnt incenses at martyrs' tombs to express their gratitute.

Provincial leaders offered incense at the grave of General Vo Nguyen Giap in Vung Chua - Yen Island area to express their deep gratitude to the eldest brother of the Vietnam People's Army and an outstanding person of Quang Binh motherland.

The 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory is an opportunity to honour the glorious history of the nation during two wars against France and America.
