17th National Mathematics Olympic Contest closed

(Quang Binh Website) - In the afternoon of April 19, the closing and giving-prize ceremony of the 17th National Mathematics Olympic Contest was hold at the Quang Binh University.

Attending the closing ceremony was Prof - DSc Nguyen Huu Du, Deputy Chairman, Secretary General of the Vietnam Mathematics Association; Assoc.Prof - Dr Nguyen Van Tan, Rector of Hue College of Science; Assoc.Prof - Dr Nguyen Huynh Phan, Rector of the Quang Binh University, Head of the Organization Board of the Contest; representative of the Department of Propaganda and Training of the Provincial Party Committee and the Office of the Provincial People's Committee together with all teachers and candidates.

Candidates won prizes at the Contest 

The Organization Board awarded 149 prizes to the subject of Analytics (20 first prizes, 39 the second, 55 the third and 35 the consolation) and 161 prizes to Algebra (19 first prizes, 42 the second, 56 the third and 44 the consolation). Especially, two candidates got the maximum score with 30/30 points, including Nguyen Tran Thuan of the Vinh University (Algebra) and Nguyen Trong Nghia of the Ho Chi Minh Polytechnic University (Analytics).

This year, the team of Quang Binh University had 7 out of 10 candidates won the prizes, including 01 second prize for Analytics, 01 third prize for Algebra and 05 consolation prizes (03 prizes for Analytics and 02 for Algebra). This is the highest result that Quang Binh University has gained in seven times of taking the exam.
The Organization Board granted challenge banners to Assoc.Prof - Dr Nguyen Van Tan, Rector of Hue College of Science - the host unit for the 18th National Mathematics Olympic Contest in 2010.
