Quang Binh: 37 sets of martyrs' remains and repatriated from Laos

Present at the ceremony were deputy governor of Khammouane province Somchay. Phetsinuan, head of Lao special working delegation; colonel Tran Quoc Dung, deputy head of Department of Policy (Ministry of National Defence); major-general Ho Ngoc Ty, deputy commander of Military Region No.4. On the side of provincial leaders, there were Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai; Vice-chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong; members of the Standing Committees of the provincial Party's Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of relevant provincial level departments and branches.
Thanks to the close direction and wholehearted assistance of authorities as well as people in Quang Binh and Khammouane provinces, in early months of 2012, the search team No.589 (under the Quang Binh Provincial Military Command) has sought and reburied 37 sets of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who laid down their lives during the war in Laos. Of the remains, only 03 sets were identified by name and native place.
Speaking at the ceremony, PPC Vice Chairman Tran Tien Dung thanked the authorities and people of Khammouane province, the special work committee of two governments, Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Labor, War Invalid and Social Affairs and High Command of Military Region No.4 for creating all favorable conditions for Quang Binh province to seek and repatriate martyrs' remains from Laos. Vice Chairman also praised the efforts made by the team No. 589 for finding and bringing remains of martyrs of Vietnamese volunteers and military experts, found in Laos, back to Vietnam.
"This is a great significant activity to express the national tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source” and contribute to reducing the pains and losses of martyrs' relatives and families", Vice Chairman stressed.
At the ceremony, participants respectfully laid a flower wreath and burnt incenses in commemoration of martyrs at the Ba Doc Martyrs' Cemetery.
