A video conference on improving tourism environment in Vietnam

Attending the video conference in Quang Binh was Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Tran Tien Dung, head of Steering Board for Quang Binh tourism development and representatives of relevant departments and branches.
At the conference, leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism briefly reported on the current tourism situation in the country, saying that localities across the country have taken a number of measures in recent years to ensure public order for tourists.
However, a number of problems persist in Vietnam’s tourism sector. Tourists are often overcharged or bothered by hawkers, beggars, and touts. A majority of both local and international tourists complain about the shortage and poor quality of public rest-rooms, which leaves a bad impression on visitors and can also cause environmental problems.
Local officials and experts also proposed measures to improve the tourism environment and deal with pressing issues, such as establishing a special security force for tourists, as well as a hotline and tourist support centers, and enhancing the role of the community.
Addressing the conference, Deputy PM Nhan emphasized the need to strengthen coordination among relevant ministries and agencies at all levels and increase the efficiency of State management over tourism to improve the quality of services and create safe, friendly tourist destinations.
