Exhibition on ASEAN community launched in Quang Binh

(Quang Binh Portal) – The Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC) in coordination with the Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee on July 14 in Dong Hoi city held an exhibition on photos, reportage and documentary films on the Association of Southeast Aisan Nations (ASEAN) community as a part of its activities responding to 2015 ASEAN Community Year.

Prominent among those present at the opening ceremony were Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Truong Minh Tuan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Xuan Quang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Tran Tien Hoang, Thai Vice Ambassador to Vietnam Wanthanee Viputwongsakul.

The exhibition displays more than 200 photos and nearly 500 documentaries featuring the beauty of landscapes, people and cultural essence and traditions of Southeast Asian nations, as well as the environmental protection and climate change prevention efforts taking place in the region.

The exhibition aims to popularise the diversity of regional cultures, peoples and their livelihoods of ASEAN region, thus bringing them closer together to form one common identity.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Truong Minh Tuan stressed that 2015 is a ASEAN Community Year, thus the event is considered as an appeal to Vietnamese people to participate in regional joint efforts in building an united ASEAN community that strives for peace, stability and sustainable development.


Exhibition attracts a large of viewers

On behalf of provincial leader, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee thanked MIC, the Centre for Press and International Communications Cooperation and related units for organization of the exhibition on photos, reportage and documentary films on the Association of Southeast Aisan Nations (ASEAN) community in Quang Binh.

Vice Chairman said the photos and documentaries will be introduced to local soldiers and people to give them insight into the beauty of culture, people and living environment in ASEAN community. This is an opportunity for the province to introduce and popularise potential, investment opportunity, economic and cultural development to friends in the region.

Vice Chairman committed Quang Binh people will continue raising awareness of climate change prevention and environmental protection, thus building an ASEAN community for peace, stability and development.

The exhibition runs until July 17.
