Hoang Phuc pagoda recognized as a local tourism destination

(Quang Binh Portal) - On January 15, the Provincial People"s Committee approved Decision No.99/QD-UBND on recognizing the national historical relic of Hoang Phuc pagoda as a local tourism destination.

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the People's Committee of Le Thuy district to manage and exploit tourism destination of the national historical relic - Hoang Phuc pagoda; have responsibility to take measures to protect its landscapes and environmental sanitation, ensure security and safety for tourists as well as organize activities to spread this destination to tourists across the country.

Besides, departments, organizations and individuals involved in coordination with the People's Committee of Le Thuy district are responsible for implementing above contents.

The recognition of the national historical relic of Hoang Phuc pagoda as a local tourism destination will enrich with tourism products of the province, build trade name for a new regilious and cultural destination, contributing to tourist attraction and tourism development.

Hoang Phuc, also known as Kinh Thien or Quan Pagoda in Thuan Trach village, My Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, is the oldest Buddhist pagoda in Quang Binh with a long history spanning over 700 years. It is not only the Buddhist worshipping place but also a cultural and historical center in the country. It collapsed in a storm in 1985 and was reconstructed and restored in November 2014. At present, the reconstruction and restoration of Hoang Phuc pagoda have been basically completed after nearly 14 months of implementation.
