Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong grants the souvenir flag to boat teams

This year's boat race attracted the participation of 9 boats from districts, city and town across the province and 2 boats from Khammouane (Laos) and Bung Kan (Thailand) with nearly 350 excellent athletes.

The race will be devided into 2 parts. In the first part, the 11 boats are in 2 groups for 3 each to enter the final. The race will be repeated with 2 distances: 1,000m and 2,000m. In the second part, there will be 4 boats that are from Laos, Thailand and the 2 of Vietnam with better achievements in the 1,000m race.

The race attracted a large number of audiences to see and cheer

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed the Quang Binh open traditional boat race 2016 is an activity in the plan of the cultural exchange to strengthen the cooperation in the fields of culture, sports and tourism and the solidarity, the friendships among the 9 provinces of Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, using the same international highways the No. 8 and the No. 12. This event is also to preserve and develop the traditional boat race of the fishingmen living in the water area of Quang Binh province.

As a result, the first prizes were awarded to boat team from Tuyen Hoa district, the second and the third to Khammouane province and Ha Trung village of Dong Hoi city with the distance of 1.000m. At the distance of 2.000m, team from Quang Trach district won the first prize, Tuyen Hoa district and Ha Trung village of Dong Hoi city won the second and the third respectively.

At the international friendly tournament, boat team from Tuyen Hoa district won the first prize, the second to Ha Trung of Dong Hoi city, the third to Khammouane province and the fourth prize to Bung Kan province.

Together with the Quang Binh open traditional boat race, from 13 July to 20 July 2016, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Binh province in collaboration with the Quang Binh Tourism Association has held the "Sailing demonstration on the sea and Nhat Le river." The program is held in Quang Binh for the first time and is a testing program to host the annual racing and sailing performances in Quang Binh thereafter.
