Dozens fined for illegally entering Vietnam to avoid Covid-19 quarantine rules

Nguyen Dong Duy was detained for illegally entering Vietnam from Laos on November 30
The Border Guard Command of the central province of Quang Binh on December 4 said that since the beginning of this year, they have dealt with 80 people who had illegally entered Vietnam from Laos with most of them attempting to avoid the government's quarantine rules.
"Besides sending them to quarantine areas, we issued fines for their violations," the command said.
According to the border guard command, one of the latest cases was reported on November 29 when a woman was found hiding in a cabin of a container truck heading from Laos to Vietnam.
The woman is Vu Thi Xuan, 37, who went to work in Laos in March 2020. She admitted that she hid in the cabin to enter Vietnam in order to avoid the Covid-19 quarantine.
