At the visit, Vice-chairman Tran Cong Thuat praised the efforts made by Quang Binh’s tourism sector in the past years and stated that Quang Binh’s tourism sector should strengthen work of tourism human resource training; accelerate construction and investment in tourism infrastructure, have some general plans and strategies to develop tourism synchronously, meeting the higher demand of tourists; improve the efficiency of business and move tourism in sustainable development.

On the afternoon of the same day, the Quang Binh Department of Culture – Sport and Tourism held a ceremony to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam’s tourism sector and 20th anniversary of Quang Binh’s tourism sector. At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the development of Vietnam’s tourism sector in the past 50 years and Quang Binh’s tourism sector in the past 20 years.

After 50 years of establishment and development, Vietnam’s tourism sector affirmed its role and position in the cause of building and developing the country. Until year 2009, the number of tourists to Vietnam was 3,772,359 visitors.

Concerning Quang Binh’s tourism sector, after the country reunification day, Quang Binh tourism has gained important achievements on all fields. The number of international visitors increased sharply, from 3,637 visitors in 2000 to 719,880 visitors in 2009. Currently, in Quang Binh, there are an international travel agency and four domestic travel agencies; 177 dwelling establishments with 2,698 rooms, in which 19 establishments ranked from 1 to 4 stars.

In order to develop Quang Binh’s tourism sector strongly and sustainably, the Quang Binh Department of Culture – Sport and Tourism has some targets for development in the period of 2011-2015, including: diversify tourist products; make full use of potentials and advantages; strengthen international cooperation; promote expansion of tourist market; enhance the awareness of community; speed up work of tourist socialization; mobilize all resources for tourism development…
