Joyful signs seen in trade activity in Cha Lo International Border Gate Economic Zone
With the aim of building Cha Lo International Border Gate Economic Zone to become a hub in the West-East Economic Corridor, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in the province's western region, striving to bring the border gate into a trading and service centre with a comprehensive and modern infrastructures, a sound investment environment and many preferential policies for investors, in the past time, Quang Binh province has implemented many effective measures to reduce the development gap between mountain areas and urban areas, contributing to promote the province's socio-economic development and protect territorial sovereignty and border security.
According to the report of the Management Board of the Economic Zones, there were 3.500 vehicles for exit and entry in 2000, contributing VND 7 billion to the budget. In 2016, the number of vehicles increased by 135.424, contributing VND 56 billion to the budget. Total values that Cha Lo international border gate economic zone contributed to the budget in 2016 were VND 274.7 billion, including VND 2.4 billion for infrastructure investment, VND 47.8 billion for parking and VND 46 billion for VAT capital construction.
At present, there are five trading and services enterprises operating in such main fields as guest house, restaurants, general grocery, customs service, foreign exchanges, loading services, commodity transport by roadway, etc and 53 business households with grocery and cartering services.
Up to now, 16 enterprises have resgistered investment in the economic zone with a total capital of VND 297.7 billion, of which, there is a 100% foreign direct investment project, namely the Logistic system development project invested by the Vietnam Logicstic Linfox Limited Company. It has a total capital of VND 110 billion with a total area of 1.045 hectares in Cha Lo international boder gate economic zone.
According to orientations until 2030, Quang Binh will continue comprehensive infrastructure investment to develop Cha Lo international border gate economic zone into an urban and economic centre in the west of the province. This will be a centre for exporting and importing commodities and services with Laos and the northeastern provinces of Thailand.
