According to report of the Dong Hoi City People's Committee, in the first three months of 2009, the city's economy continuously gained many good results. The industry - handicrafts production value achieved 199,508 million VND, increasing by 14.8% against the same period; export turnovers achieved 6.8 million USD, increasing 12.4%; budget mobilization was estimated at 20 billion VND, reaching 13% against the provincial budget forecast and equaling 109% against the same period. A lot of big changes have been seen in the cultural and social fields.

The Party building has been paid much attention in both three aspects of politics, thought and organization; concentrating on implementing the Resolution of the Party Committee on "Building and developing Dong Hoi City until 2015" and the Campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh" so as to improve the ability of leading and fighting of the Party organizations and its members.

The orientations and tasks of the Dong Hoi City Party Committee in the 2nd quarter is to continuously renew and improve the quality and efficiency of the education of politics and thought; continue to lead and direct the implementation of Resolution No.30 of the Government on urgent measures to prevent economic downturn, maintain economic growth and ensure social security. Accordingly, the city proposed specific tasks like: to focus on promote development of industry - handicrafts; to effectively implement master plan, urban management, and the projects of socialization; to pay much attention to environmental sanitation and further tourism development. Regarding the Party building, to attach special importance to the mobilization of the masses in implementing the tasks for socio-economic development; to continuously implement the Campaign "Studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh", thrift practice, wastefulness prevention and anti-corruption; to build State management agencies and the staff of civil-servants to improve the capacity of management of the apparatus of government at all levels and timely solve difficulties in provincial area.
