On March 30, the Quang Tri Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that a report on Son Doong - the world's largest cave - was just broadcast in the program "60 Minutes" of CBS Television (USA).
The documentary premiered at 7 pm on March 29 (Eastern US time), equivalent to about 7 am on March 30 Vietnam time, taking international audiences to explore the journey through the Son Doong natural wonder.
According to the Quang Tri Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, "60 Minutes" is a globally famous news and investigative report program, with a regular viewership of more than 8 million viewers and hundreds of millions of accesses on digital platforms, especially in the North American market.
The content of the report recreates the process of discovering and exploring Son Doong over many years by the British Royal Cave Association, from initial surveys to in-depth scientific research.
CBS's film crew filmed in Son Doong from January 14-17, 2026, co-organized by Oxalis Adventure, with the participation of 9 members, including presenter Scott Pelley and photographer Ryan Deboodt.
CBS's selection of Son Doong for filming is considered an important communication event, contributing to enhancing the tourism position of Quang Tri and the World Natural Heritage Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park on the international tourism map.
The reportage not only promotes destinations but also provides valuable scientific materials, contributing to raising awareness about conservation and sustainable tourism development.
According to the Quang Tri Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the effect from the program will create motivation for tourism promotion activities in 2026, and at the same time affirm Son Doong as a leading tourism symbol in the world.
In the coming time, Quang Tri province will deploy communication campaigns, and at the same time organize many cultural, sports, and tourism events such as Quang Tri Culture and Tourism Week 2026 (April 24 - May 1), Peace Festival (from April to December 2026) and activities to prepare for the National Tourism Year 2027.
