Provincial People's Committee's August regular meeting 2009

(Quang Binh Website) - On September 04 2009, the Provincial People's Committee held the August regular meeting, chaired by Provincial People’s Committee Chairman Phan Lam Phuong. Joining in the meeting was Vice-chairpersons of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Provincial Standing People’s Council; leaders of departments and branches and related units in the province.

According to the reported presented at the meeting, despite of meeting the effect of economic crisis, the province's socio-economic situation in August and first eight months of this year was still stable and had a fair growth rate. Most of assigned targets achieved and exceeded the plan. A lot of big changes have been seen in the fields of agricultural production, capital construction, environmental resources, foreign affairs, investment promotion, health, finance-credit, trade and tourism... The people's spiritual life has been improved step by step. National defence and security, social safety and order have been upheld. Concretely, the total area under cultivation of Spring-autumn crop was 29.701 ha, increased by 2.8% against the same period; of which paddy area was 22.704 ha, increased by 2.6% against the same period. The total output of fishery was estimated at 6,729.2 tonnes in August and 32,506 tonnes in first eight months of this year, increased by 16.8% against the same period, achieved 83.8% of the plan. The industrial production value was estimated to achieve VND306.4 billion in August and VND2,012.8 billion in first eight months, increased by 17.8% against the same period, reached 63.5% of the plan. The total State budget revenue was estimated at VND78.44 billion in August and VND681.57 billion in first eight months, reached 75.7% of the plan. The total retail sales of goods and services in August achieved VND614.3 billion, increased by 9.9% compared with the same period. Export turnover was estimated to achieve US$4.5 million in August and US$32.88 million in first eight months, equaling to 71.5% against the same period, reaching 48.4% of the plan.

Giving a closing speech at the meeting, Province Chairman Phan Lam Phuong acknowledged the efforts and contributions of agencies and localities to the province's socio-economic development and ordered the departments and branches to solve difficulties, make good the shortcomings and focus on checking the implementation of targets, tasks and plan for year 2009 in order to complete the socio-economic targets in September and the remaining four months of 2009.
