Providing 400 tonnes of rice and 1,000 cows to central flood victims

The Vietnam Red Cross, in coordination with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Vietnam Multimedia Corporation (VTC), are buying 400 tonnes of rice and 1,000 cows for poor families in the central region who have been affected by the historic floods.

Of the sum, Nghe An will receive 100 tonnes of rice and Ha Tinh and Quang Binh will receive 150 tonnes of rice each.

1,000 cows will be provided to families in five villages in Minh Hoa, Le Thuy, and Quang Trach districts in Quang Binh, five villages in Huong Khe, Vu Quang, Huong Son districts in Ha Tinh, and some poor districts in Nghe An.

In October, the Vietnam Red Cross provided nearly VND12 billion and 150 tonnes of essential products to Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Nghe An, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue provinces.

The local Red Cross has mobilised nearly VND8 billion for flood victims in the central region.

Also in October, the Red Cross received VND9.2 billion from domestic and foreign donors and more than VND11 billion from message services.

International organizations, the IFRC, the international Red Cross and foreign governments have committed to donate VND21.7 billion to flood victims.
