Provincial People's Committee convenes August regular meeting

(Quang Binh Website) - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai on September 9 presided over August regular meeting to evaluate situation of socio-economic development of the province in August and deploy tasks in the remaining months of 2011.

Attending the meeting was Vice-chairpersons of the provincial People's Committee and representatives of related departments and branches.

 The province's socio-economic situation in August had many positive changes; political security, social safety and order were upheld; work of social security, education and training and healthcare were paid more attention.

The report showed that a total area under cultivation for summer-autumn crop achieved over 30 thousand ha, of which 22 thousand ha for rice, 600 ha for maize, 730 ha for sweet potato and 1,550 ha for diverse vegetable. Aquaculture reached more than 2,100 tons; industrial production index was estimated up by 9.5% against last month and up by 23.5% against the same period, of which mining industry up by 11.6%, processing industry up by 8% and electricity and water supply up by 7% against the same period. A total retail sales of goods and services was estimated to reach VND1,011 billion; export turnover reached US$16.3 million; transport reached VND95 billion. In August, there were 97.6 thousand tourists to Quang Binh, increased by 9.9%, reached VND4.4 billion; budget revenue reached more than VND115.3 billion.

Addressing the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai praised obtained results and the efforts made by agencies and localities in the past time and straightly pointed out the shortcomings to effectively deploy key tasks in the remaining months of 2011.

Agencies and localities should strictly implement socio-economic development tasks for 2011 associated with implementing Resolution No.11/NQ-Cp of the Government; focus on developing agro - forestry and fishery production and improving the living standard for the people, he stressed.

He asked agencies to focus on dealing with difficulties for enterprises, especially difficulties in capital and human resource; speeding up site clearance in economic zones to stabilize production; having the plan to attract projects and investors; step by step developing the economy in sustainable way. He also paid more attention to mapping up the plan for attracting talent people for the province.
