British explorers find fish able to swim upstream
A group of cave explorers from the British Cave Research Association has found a fish species that could swim upstream at a high speed at the Phong Nha – Ke Bang national park.
The fish, which is 1 to 1.5 cm long, were found in the Tu Lan cave system.
Dinh Huy Tri, director of the park’s science center, said the center would undertake further research about the species because they could be valuable in Vietnam’s attempt to apply for the recognition of Phong Nha - Ke Bang as an UNESCO world heritage in biodiversity.
The Phong Nha-Ke Bang national park in the central province of Quang Binh is home to Son Doong, the world’s biggest cave.
