The ceremony was attended by Dr. Tran Thanh Van, Chairman of the Scientific and Educational Organisation, Rencontres Du Vietnam; Prof, Dr. Odon Vallet, the Soocbon University – Paris (France); Prof, Dr. Le Thi Kim Ngoc, Chairman of the Association for the Support of Vietnamese Children; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, Standing Vice Chairman of the Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee together with representatives of line departments.

Presenting Vallet scholarships to students of Quang Binh University

In the academic year of 2011-2012, 397 Vallet scholarships were presented to outstanding students and pupils in three central provinces. Of which, 282 scholarships were granted to Quang Binh with a total value of VND 1.5 billion; 60 scholarships worth VND 375 million to Ha Tinh and 55 scholarships worth VND 335 million to Quang Tri.

Seventy-five scholarships worth VND8 million each were for students of Quang Binh and Ha Tinh universities and Quang Tri College and the remaining worth VND5 million each, for secondary pupils in Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Ha Tinh provinces and children at SOS village in Dong Hoi City .

Since 2001, Professor Odon Vallet has granted more than 18,000 scholarships with a total value of VND112 billion to Vietnamese students and pupils through Rencontres Du Vietnam.

Over the past 12 years, French scientist, Professor Odon Vallet has spent all his saving money on scholarships for French and Vietnamese students.

Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman Nguyen Xuan Quang highly appreciated great contributions of the Scientific and Educational Organisation, Rencontres Du Vietnam over the past time to the cause of education of Vietnam in general and Quang Binh in particular.

Vice Chairman expressed his hope that scholarship recipients will uphold spirit of learning fondness and try their best to achieve high results in their studying, contributing to building a more prosperous motherland.

On the same day, the Provincial People’s Committee held a meeting with Professor, Doctor Tran Thanh Van, Prof, Dr. Odon Vallet and members of the Scientific and Educational Organisation, Rencontres Du Vietnam on the occasion of Prof. Odon Vallet‘s birthday.
