In the solemn minute of the memorial service held at the National Memorial Hall in Hanoi, delegates attending the memorial service in Quang Binh were moved to listen to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong, Head of the National Funeral Committee delivering a funeral oration in praise of General Vo Nguyen Giap’s great contributions to the revolutionary career of the nation.

On behalf of the family, General Vo Nguyen Giap’s oldest son Vo Dien Bien expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State and people for the General’s funeral and thanked to the army forces, the 108 Central Military Hospital, the A11 faculty and all doctors and officers who directly took care of the General in the last minute.

After a minute of silence in memory of General Vo Nguyen Giap, the leaders of the Party and State and family went round the general’s coffin for the last time before moving it to Noi Bai International Airport.

After the memorial service, General Vo Nguyen Giap’s coffin will be transported to Quang Binh – his home town – for interment according to the General’s will.
