General Vo Nguyen Giap's statue inaugurated in Ly Hoa village

(Quang Binh Portal) - On the occasion of the 105th birthday anniversary of General Vo Nguyen Giap (August 25th, 1911 - August 25th, 2016), the Party Committee, People"s Council and People"s Committee of Hai Trach commune (Bo Trach district) solemnly held a ceremony to inaugurate the statue and memorial of General Vo Nguyen Giap, a Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People"s Army.

The event was attended by Mr. Cao Van Dinh, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Department of Propaganda and Training of the Provincial Party Committee; Ms Vo Hanh Phuc, a girl of the General, professors and doctors of history and many local people.

The statue of General Vo Nguyen Giap is mainly cast by bronze with a height of 1.03m, expressing the 103 ages of General Vo Nguyen Giap. The front of the statue is directed towards the southeast of Ly Hoa river and the East Sea in the cultural center of Hai Trach commune, Bo Trach district. The behind of the statue is a memorial of Vietnamese heroic Mothers, heroes, martyrs and outstanding children of Ly Hoa motherland who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation, reunification and defence of the Fatherland.

The statue is built by Phan Hai and Pham Thi Dung, who are two children of Hai Trach commune, together with the assistances of many artists, sculptors, architectors, photographers, film-makers, history professors and doctors as well as relatives of the late General.

The works of the General's statue expresses deep sentiments and gratitude of the People and authority of Hai Trach commune to General Vo Nguyen Giap, contributing to educating revolutionary tradition and glorious past of the nation for young generation.
