Discuss solutions to serve Chiang Mai tourists

(Quang Binh Portal) - The Provincial People"s Committee on September 7th had a meeting with the restaurants, hotels and small traders of Dong Hoi market to discuss solutions to serve Chiang Mai tourists (Thailand) to Dong Hoi.

The meeting was chaired by Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai and attended by Pernament Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Xuan Quang and representatives of related departments and branches.

According to report of Jetstar Pacific Airline, there have so far been 08 round-trip flights from Dong Hoi to Chiang Mai with 1,450 passengers, reaching an average capacity of 49.5%/seat. Most passengers come from Vietnam (63.38%), Thailand (30.14%) and other countries (Australia, Germany, France, UK, US, Israel, Japan... with 6,14%).

With a great effort in promotion and connection with the Chiang Mai Tourism Association, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thailand Travel Association and tourism association of the North Thailand provinces, a large number of tourists have been reserved seats from August to October.

At the meeting, participants contributed many ideas and suggestions to strengthen management on quality and product prices; open training courses to improve communication skills with foreigners in general and Thailand tourists in particular.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee briefly informed of obtained results of the tourism sector and its orientations for tourism development in the upcoming time, especially promotion of new international air route between Dong Hoi and Chiang Mai.

In order to attract more Thailand tourists to Quang Binh, Chairman Hoai asked the Department of Industry and Trade to regularly inspect and control prices at Dong Hoi market, restaurants and hotels; the Dong Hoi City People's Committee to instruct small traders to rearrange seafood stalls in clean and tidy way to make it easier to trade and manage the price and quality of products.
