Under a cooperation document signed at the talks in Quang Binh on May 23 between the two provinces’ authorities, they will continue promoting close and effective cooperation between their governments at all levels and their border management and protection forces.

They will encourage people to participate in the protection of the shared borderline and border markers and raise the public sense of responsibility in reporting and preventing crimes in the border areas.

At their talks, the two sides agreed that Quang Binh and Savannakhet maintained good relations at all levels in the fields of defence, security and border issue and organised annual provincial-level talks in recent years. They also enhanced education for their officials and people on law and border-related issues through a variety of approaches.

Furthermore, the governments of the two provinces have invested in local infrastructure and socio-economic development and poverty reduction efforts to improve living standards of people living along their shared border.
