Meanwhile, Duong Thi Huyen Tram, head of the Movement Division at the Ho Chi Minh City Chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, said on November 3 that it had received 65.1 billion VND in cash and 5.2 billion VND worth of goods in support of disaster-hit people in the central region as of 4 pm on November 2.
Tram said that the goods, which include instant noodles, rice, mattresses, mosquito nets, raincoats, buoys, textbooks, and notebooks, and 15.9 billion VND were presented to affected localities.
The remaining cash and goods will be distributed as soon as possible, she added.
On the same day, the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi chapter said that it had received 59 billion VND to help flood victims in the central region since October 13.
According to a report from the General Department of State Reserves, local Departments of State Reserves have already completed delivering the first phase of rice supplies to those affected.
Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, and Quang Nam provinces received 1,000 tonnes of rice each.
The departments are striving to finish the second phase, providing an additional 6,500 tonnes of rice.
High-speed canoes, life-saving tents, buoys, and rafts have also been allocated to affected areas.
