Along with the policies to attract investment, favourable customs clearance and the support of local authorities have created a new face for Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone.

At present, there are 16 enterprises and 37 business households at Cha Lo International Border Gate center. Thanks to the application of technology through the installation and operation of automatic management system, the collection from yard fees for transporting vehicles across Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone has gradually achieved high effect and ensured the security.

According to the latest figures from the Management Board of Quang Binh Economic Zones, the situation of trading activities across Cha Lo Border Gate increased by 11% in the first 6 months of 2019 over the same period in 2018. Fees collected were estimated at VND 38 billion.

In the first 6 months of 2019, turnover (including transit, non-traded goods) reached USD 854 million, up 33% over the same period last year; goods taxes across the border gate collected VND 14.1 billion, reached 100% compared to the same period last year; goods transported across the border gate was more than 1.3 million tons; means of transportation on exit and entry was nearly 98 thousand turns; the number of people entering and exiting was nearly 195 thousand.

In 2017, the Prime Minister selected the Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone as one of 9 key border gate economic zones of the whole country where was focused on development investment from the State budget for the period 2016-2020. This is the basis to attract investment capital for building and completing infrastructure in the economic zone; contributing to ensure national defense and security as well as promote socio-economic development in the Western region of Quang Binh province.

At the end of 2018, Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone attracted 25 projects with total registered investment capital of over VND 580 billion, the capital used of about VND 325 billion. Projects calling for investment promotion in Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone mainly focused on the sectors of transport business, restaurant and hotel services, foreign exchange services, goods trading, transit warehouses, bonded warehouses.

Investment projects put into operation have contributed to enhance production and business efficiency of enterprises at Cha Lo Border Gate Economic Zone, initially created positive changes in business production, attracted investment, solved jobs and collected for State budget, etc.
