PPC Vice Chairman Tran Tien Dung receives Irish Ambassador to Vietnam

(Quang Binh Portal) - On June 20th 2016, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People"s Committee Tran Tien Dung had a meeting with Ms. Cait Moran, Irish Ambassador to Vietnam on implementation of the "Improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities through enhancing position of civil society organizations in resource mobilization and implementation of community-based rehabilitation programs in Quang Binh province" project.

Receiving Irish Ambassador to Vietnam was representatives of Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Labor - War Invalids and Social Affairs, Office of the Provincial People's Committee and the Association for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (AEPD).

The "Improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities through enhancing position of civil society organizations in resource mobilization and implementation of community-based rehabilitation programs in Quang Binh province" project is funded by the Irish Aid Agency and conducted by AEPD with a total expense of EUR 186,763.

The project's objectives are to promote implementation of the community-based rehabilitation model in Quang Binh; develop model to support persons with disabilities in the locality and neighboring areas; build AEPD to become a local civil society organization which is capable of mobilizing and effectively implementing the targeted programs to support persons with disabilities and provide services.

In 2015, the project organized training courses on business management and breeding technique for persons with disabilities; provided a financial support (in kind) for persons with disabilities to start or expand their business; set up a division of community-based rehabitation and provided basic equipment for medical stations in the project's communes; established division of vocational training for persons with disabilities at the locality's vocational training center.

This was practical programs and projects designed for beneficiaries such as persons with disabilities, ethnic people and especially difficult areas.

At the reception, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee thanked Irish Ambassador to Vietnam for her working visit to Quang Binh, aiming to inspect the implementation of the "Improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities through enhancing position of civil society organizations in resource mobilization and implementation of community-based rehabilitation programs in Quang Binh province" project.
Vice Chairman also informed of some issues relating to implementation of programs and projects funded by the agencies of the Republic of Ireland in the past time, especially focusing on education, social affairs, livelihood support and poverty alleviation.

On behalf of provincial leader, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hoped that the province would continue to receive assistances from Irish agencies and organizations to effectivley implement programs and projects, aiming to boost cooperation between Quang Binh province and the Republic of Ireland, contributing to promote socio-economic development of the province.

Speaking at the meeting, Irish ambassador to Vietnam thanked for warm reception of the provincial leader and highly evaluated the province's assistance in creating conditions for the Irish agencies to conduct their programs and projects in the past time.

Irish ambassador said that she tried her utmost for implementation of practical programs and projects with a focus on the province's advantaged fields such as education, social affairs, livelihood support and poverty alleviation, contributing to improve the life's quality of local people.

On the same day, Irish ambassador to Vietnam paid a visit to inspect operation of the "Improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities through enhancing position of civil society organizations in resource mobilization and implementation of community-based rehabilitation programs in Quang Binh province" project in Bo Trach district.
