Four locations in Quang Binh named in Lonely Planet’s list of must-see attractions in Vietnam
The four places include Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Hang Son Doong (Mountain River Cave), Tu Lan Cave, and Thien Duong (Paradise) Cave.
According to Lonely Planet, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003, is a speleologists’ heaven on earth, and a real treat for anyone who appreciates the sight of nature at its most raw.
Meanwhile, Hang Son Doong is known as the world's largest cave and is one of the most spectacular sights in Southeast Asia.
With huge caverns, underground rivers, and vast dangling stalactites, Tu Lan Cave is a big draw for spelunkers (cave enthusiasts), Lonely Planet hailed.
It also described the scale of Paradise Cave as breath-taking, with wooden staircases plunging into a cathedral-like space with vast alien-looking stalagmites and stalactites illuminated by large flood lights.
The list also includes the War Remnants Museum (Ho Chi Minh City), Sao Beach (Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province), Dragon Bridge (Da Nang City), Thien Mu Pagoda (Thua Thien Hue Province), and Hoa Lo Prison (Hanoi), among others.
This is the first time a locality in Vietnam has seen four must-see attractions selected by Lonely Planet. The recognition by the world's leading travel magazine continues to affirm Quang Binh Province's position as an attractive destination on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world.
