On the morning of December 10, the People's Council of Quang Tri province, term VIII, 2021 - 2026, opened its 5th session.

Speaking at the opening session, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Dang Quang affirmed that this is a session of special significance, summarizing a period of many fluctuations after the merger and orienting tasks for the new development stage of the province.

Quang Tri's economy in 2025 recorded many positive points: GRDP increased by 8%, 17/17 main targets were completed and exceeded; GRDP per capita reached 79.1 million VND; budget revenue is estimated at 13,400 billion VND, up nearly 15%; total retail sales increased by 12.5%.

The industrial - construction sector increased by 10.75%, services increased by 8.35%. Planning, infrastructure investment, and project implementation are strongly promoted; the fields of culture, education, healthcare and social security are focused on.

However, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Council pointed out many shortcomings: industry is not really the driving force, agriculture growth is not high, infrastructure is still lacking synchronization, budget collection is low, not sustainable, public investment disbursement is slow, non-state projects are stagnant, human resources for digital transformation are limited, and some social security issues are still inadequate. He suggested that delegates discuss in depth, assess the reality and propose strong solutions to create momentum for the 2026 - 2030 period.

This session considered a large volume of the following contents: 2025 socio-economic report; 2026 and 2026 - 2030 plans; public investment capital allocation; budget revenue and expenditure estimates; 65 reports, submissions and draft resolutions on land, environment, education, health, social security, staffing, ethnic policies, land prices and many other important mechanisms.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Council called on delegates to promote their responsibilities, discuss frankly, and contribute practical opinions so that each resolution passed is "correct in law - in accordance with reality - meeting development requirements".
