The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee: Launched tree-planting festival at the Vung Chua area in Quang Trach district

(Quang Binh Portal) - The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee (HCYUC) launched a tree-planting festival at the Vung Chua area in Quang Trach district, which houses the tomb of the late General Vo Nguyen Giap on February 26 with 1.000 students and young people in attendance in the province.
Attending the launching ceremony, First Secretary of The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation Hoang Dang Quang and representatives of relevant departments, branches and local authorities in the province.

At the launching ceremony, First Secretary of The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh said encouraged local State agencies, organisations and people to grow fruit and timber trees among others along coastal areas to prevent soil and wind erosion.

Following the launching ceremony, participants planted about 120 bang (Arenga pinnata) trees were planted along the road leading the tomb while more than 3,500 phi lao (Casuarina equisetifolia) trees were rooted along the nearby coast. This is concrete measures need to be employed to limit deforestation and raise public awareness.

The tree-planting festival, held at the outset of a new year, is an annual tradition initiated by the late President Ho Chi Minh in 1959.

After that, the HCYUC representative and the provincial leaders laid a wreath and offered incense to the grave of General Vo Nguyen Giap and spent a minute of silence to express deep gratitude to great contributions of an excellent student of late President Ho Chi Minh, a commander-in-chief of the Vietnam People's Army, an outstanding general of the world and a brilliant son of Quang Binh motherland.

On this occasion, provincial leaders and HCYUC representative presented 20 gifts to poor students in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district.
