Announcing the establishment of Phong Nha town of Bo Trach district
Under the authorization of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Mr. Tran Thang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Tran Cong Thuat, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented the Resolution and flowers congratulating on the establishment of Phong Nha town to the locality
On January 10, 2020, the National Assembly Standing Committee passed Resolution No.862/NQ-UBTVQH14 on the arrangement of communal administrative units in Quang Binh province; in particular, the establishment of Phong Nha town is based on maintaining the status of Son Trach commune, Bo Trach district. Phong Nha town has a natural area of nearly 99.5 km2 and a population of nearly 12,500 people.
The establishment of Phong Nha town is consistent with the overall socio-economic planning, administrative units, orientations, urban development programs and sectoral planning of Bo Trach district in particular and the province Quang Binh in general.

Phong Nha town constitutes a uninterrupted system of towns in the region, creating favorable conditions for urban management, creating a premise for socio-economic development associated with the modernization process in agriculture, industry, handicraft production, trade and services based on the existing status of Phong Nha tourist urban area, ensuring the requirements on national defence and security, social order and safety on the locality; simultaneously contributing to preserving and promoting the values of Phong Nha - Ke Bang World Heritage.
In addition, Phong Nha town also contributes to attracting investment capital and human resources for sustainable tourism development, which is an important driving force for the socio-economic development of Bo Trach district and Quang Binh province in the future.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Cong Thuat, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements that the Party Committee, authorities and people of Son Trach commune have gained in socio-economic development, exploiting efficiently potentials and advantages of Phong Nha - Ke Bang World Heritage site to make it into a beautiful Phong Nha town today. At the same time, he confirmed that this is an important milestone marking the transformation and creating new opportunities Phong Nha town development.
However, in addition to favorable conditions for development, Phong Nha town also faces many difficulties and challenges; therefore, the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee noted that Phong Nha town should continue to bring into play the local potentials and strengths, overcome difficulties and limitations in order to accomplish the objectives and tasks set by the Party Congress at all levels. In particular, the following important tasks need to be effectively carried out: continue to review and supplement the planning, especially the planning on construction and urban development; accelerate administrative reform, take initiative in removing difficulties, create favorable conditions for businesses and people to invest in production and business development; improve the capacity and efficiency of urban authority; focus on training high-quality human resources for economic, social and urban management development; concentrate on urban embellishment, build new urban areas and residential areas following technical and social infrastructures to ensure the efficient implementation of short-term and long-term objectives in accordance with the International Convention and the management of World Natural Heritage...
Phong Nha - Ke Bang is a national and world heritage site, a heart of Quang Binh tourism, so the local people must build a civilized urban and cultural lifestyle, promote the indigenous cultural identity to attract tourists and deserve to be considered as an international-class tourism center.
