The Provincial People's Committee had a working session with the delegation of the Cuban Embassy

Within the framework of the 37th Vietnam-Cuba Inter-governmental Conference took place on September 10, 2019, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister Marcia Cobas Ruiz (the representative of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cuba) and Vice-Chairman Tran Tien Dung (the representative of People's Committee of Quang Binh province) signed a memorandum of cooperation. This activity aimed to establish a comprehensive cooperation strategy in the field of health between Vietnam and Cuba in general, Quang Binh province and Cuba in particular. Specifically, the two sides would cooperate in the field of scientific and technical development in primary health care for the people based on the principle of family medicine, focusing on making electronic health records for people and managing some non-communicable diseases (It is expected to be piloted in Quang Ninh district).

Ms. Irmina Perojo said that Cuba currently has designed a family doctor model based on promoting the achievements of this model in Cuba and adjusting in accordance with the specific situation in Quang Binh. Accordingly, Cuban health experts have built a roadmap for training doctors for Quang Binh, focusing on the field of control and treatment of non-communicable diseases; at the same time, building an electronic health monitoring system for people... In order to implement the project effectively, Cuba requires Quang Binh province to provide necessary documents such as population size, natural conditions, morbidity patterns of each region... to design a family doctor model in conformity with the actual situation of each locality.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran Tien Dung affirmed the importance of the family doctor model in the healthcare strategy for the people. The Vice-Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee also highly agreed with the model designs drafted by Cuba and said that Quang Binh would continue to build the plan, research, and survey the real situation to provide Cuba with the necessary information to deploy the contents by the end of 2020.
On this occasion, the Cuban delegation visited Dong Hoi Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital, North Quang Binh General Hospital and Medical Center in Quang Ninh District.
