The Provincial People's Committee held its regular meeting for June 2020

In the first 6 months of 2020, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee focused on directing all levels, branches and localities to implement tasks and solutions on socio-economic development synchronously and drastically; simultaneously, thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the guidelines and direction of the central government; implement "dual goals" - both preventing and fighting Covid-19 epidemic in the spirit of "fighting the epidemic is like fighting against the enemy", and determining to maintain, restore and develop socio-economic activities, protect people's life. With the participation of both the political system and the efforts of people, the epidemic situation in the area has been well controlled; so far, the whole province has recorded no positive cases for Covid-19; the province directed timely to support the people affected by Covid-19 epidemic in accordance with the Government's resolution.

In spite of having many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the socio-economic situation of the province in the first 6 months of the year still achieved positive results: the economy still grew, the total investment capital of the whole society increased, budget revenue reached over 50% of the estimate for the whole year; cultural and social fields performed well. The GRDP economic growth rate increased by nearly 3.4% over the same period; the production value of agriculture - forestry and fishery rose by more than 3.2%; the value of industrial production increased by 6% compared to the same period; the total investment capital of the whole society is VND 9,440 billion; State budget revenue reached nearly VND 2,770 billion; creating jobs for nearly 12,900 employees; the percentage of trained workers reached nearly 65%, of which vocational trained workers reached nearly 49%. The situation of political security, social order and safety in the area was maintained. Especially, the province successfully organized the 63-year anniversary of Uncle Ho's visit to Quang Binh and the inauguration of the Monument of President Ho Chi Minh with the people of Quang Binh that left a good impression and created an exciting atmosphere, encouraging people to continue emulating socio-economic development.

However, due to the serious impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the production value of the service sector decreased by nearly 1.1% over the same period; a number of State budget revenues are low compared to the plan; many businesses had to stop operating or operated moderately, especially in the field of tourism, services, imports and exports...; some of workers had to stop working, stop unpaid labor contracts or were unemployed...

At the working session, the delegates focused on discussing solutions to continue performing effectively tasks in such fields as: stimulating tourism development, removing difficulties for businesses, solving jobs; preventing and fighting forest fires in the dry season; preventing and fighting against Covid-19; implementing policies to support people facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic; reforming public investment; implementing key projects and works of the province...

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Tran Cong Thuat, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: the year 2020 is the last year to implement the 5-year socio-economic development plan for 2016-2020 period and the XVI Provincial Party Resolution of the term 2015-2020; therefore, in the coming time, all levels, sectors and localities should continue implementing solutions drastically to promote the socio-economic development of the province.

On the basis of reports and directions of the Provincial People's Committee, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested departments, agencies, units and localities in the province to base on the actual situation to give specific directions, implement solutions synchronously, strive to reach and exceed the socio-economic development plan.
