Cutting inauguration brand of Hon La Seaport

The Hon La seaport, situated in Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province, was established according to Decision No.16/2008/QD-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport. It has a favorable position in both natural condition and seaway and road way transport. As to roadway, Hon La is about 3km from the national road No.1A, 153km from the Cha Lo border gate, 301km from Takhet on the border line between Laos and Thailand and 40km from the Gianh River Cement Plant. As to seaway, it is far 5.5-6 nautical miles from coastal maritime line, 360 nautical miles from the international maritime line on the East Sea, and is centered between two big seaports of Hai Phong and Da Nang. This is a general seaport under the management of Quang Binh Port Authorities and the Petroleum Technical Service Joint-stock Corporation. The Hon La Port for the first phase has the total investment of VND162.7 billion with the total area under construction of over 94,000m2. Under the economic development plan of Quang Binh province and neighboring provinces, by the year of 2010, Hon La port is yearly expected to receive 1.8 million tons of goods and transport 1.4 million tons of cement and mineral to Laos, concurrently receive about 1.4 million tons of goods from China.

Delivering a speech at the inauguration ceremony, Chairman Phan Lam Phuong stressed "This is actually an important event and a great pleasure to Quang Binh province, marking a new step on the path of integration and development. He acknowledged and praised the effort of all levels and branches, especially the Department of Transport and executive units; applauded the assistant and investment of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, contributing to promoting the province's economic development in the process of international integration. Concurrently, Chairman Phan Lam Phuong also suggested the Petroleum Technical Service Corporation to manage and operate the port effectively; prepare the procedures for construction investment to expand the port's scale for the second phase, meeting the demand of freight across the seaport of foreign and domestic investors and enterprises.
