In the morning of August 16 2008, the Provincial People's Committee held a summation ceremony of the 5th anniversary of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park recognized as a world natural heritage. Attending the meeting were Mrs. Pham Thi Bich Lua, Vice-chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Board; Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoai, Vice-chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, departments and branches, districts and city in the whole province.

Granting Certificate of Merit to outstanding individuals

As posted news, on July 26 evening, at the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, the Party Committee and people of Quang Binh province held a ceremony to welcome the 5th anniversary of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park recognized as a world natural heritage. The special art performance made a strong impression on the audiences, contributing to promoting the spread of traditional products of Quang Binh and the unique value of the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park to international and domestic friends.

Granting Certificate of Merit to excellent collectives

Besides the art performance - a main activity of the Festival, a number of activities to promote the world heritage site’s image were also held on this occasion. Highlighting in the event were a village fair "Quang Binh gastronomy and trade village specialties 2008"; a photo exhibition entitled “Joining hands to protect the world’s heritage site of Phong Nha – Ke Bang”, a scientific seminar entitled, "The global scientific value of Phong Nha - Ke Bang world natural heritage"; camping fair and contest of studying Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park; publishing the booklet "Quang Binh - the hiding of time"; a screening of a documentary themed “Tourism in Quang Binh – 5 years after Phong Nha – Ke Bang’s recognition as a world heritage site” and other cultural and art activities.

At the meeting, delegates spent much time to heard speeches of the departments on work of organization and preparation for the anniversary, cited shortcomings and mistakes to learn the experience from work of organization. Permanent Vice-chairman Nguyen Huu Hoai and Vice-chairwoman Pham Thi Bich Lua, Head of the Steering Board highly appreciated and praised the effort of the departments and branches and localities in implementing activities, contributing to bringing the success of the Festival, concurrently asked localities and units to continuously promote work of propaganda and education for the people to join hands to protect the world’s heritage site of Phong Nha – Ke Bang.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee awarded Certificate of Merit to 20 collectives and 24 individuals who obtained excellent achievements in work of organization and participation in the 5th anniversary of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park recognized as a world natural heritage.
