ADB-funded safe water project under construction in central region
More than 80,000 people in the central region are expected to benefit from a safe water project funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
At a seminar leading up to the “Project on Safe Water Supplies and Rural Environmental Hygiene in the Central Region”, held in Hanoi on May 19, ADB specialists said that the bank has selected six out of 14 central provinces as the project’s targets, including Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Nam and Binh Dinh.
Six water supply networks with over 400 km of pipelines will be built in the selected provinces, capable of treating 13,000 cubic metres of water per day.
The ADB project will build and upgrade 34 km of drainage ditches and construct 2,500 toilets for local households at an estimated cost of VND190 billion.
