Vietnam Seaports System Master Plan till year 2020 and orientation to year 2030 was designed by the Port Design and Maritime Technique Consultancy Joint-stock Company (PORTCOAST). Under the plan, Quang Binh port is a local port (grade II) under the Vietnam Seaports system. Quang Binh port included three terminals of Gianh River, Nhat Le and Hon La. Of which, Gianh terminal is a satellite terminal of Quang Binh port, has a capacity to receive 3,000 DWT vessels; Hon La terminal is a main terminal of Quang Binh port, used to receive imported coals to serve for Quang Trach thermo-electric plant and has a general terminal used to directly serve for Hon La Industrial Park and Quang Binh province, having a capacity to receive 1,000-2,000 DWT vessels.

The meeting spent much time to discuss about the development scale of Quang Binh port in order to make full use of its advantages and natural conditions to meet the demand of market, contributing to implement well its role in the development of economic zones and industrial parks in the area.
