Australian Government aids 3.8 million USD to work of blindness prevention in Vietnam
(Quang Binh Website) - Through Fred Hollows Foundation, in March and April, 2010, the Australian Government has signed memorandums of understanding to fund the project of blindness prevention in six provinces and cities of Vietnam, including Ha Noi, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, Ha Giang, Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Tien Giang and Ho Chi Minh city.
With these six projects, the total number of projects, which Fred Hollows Foundation has donated and carried out in Vietnam, is 16 projects and the total expense is estimated at 3.8 million USD for year 2010.
Mr Allaster Cox, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam hoped that this donation will help to build the capacity of providing eye care services in the localities, contributing to eliminate rate of avoidable blindness and achieve the global target of "Vision 2020".
