VND10 billion to build commemorative temple for heroic martyrs

(Quang Binh Website) – On the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27th), on the morning of July 27, 2010, the Sai Gon Giai Phong (Sai Gon Liberated) Newspaper in coordination with the Quang Binh Provincial People’s Committee, Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam – Quang Binh Branch (Quang Binh Vietcombank) held a ceremony to donate over VND11 billion to build a commemorative temple for heroic martyrs and house of gratitude and to award scholarships to war invalids and sick soldiers’ children in the provincial area.

Attending the ceremony were Permanent Vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Cong Thuat and leaders of departments, branches and organizations in the provincial area.

At the ceremony, representative of Quang Binh Vietcombank presented VND10 billion to build the commemorative temple for heroic martyrs and VND900 million to build 30 houses of gratitude (worth VND30 million each) to social beneficiaries; awarded 100 scholarships (worth VND2 million each) with a total value of VND200 million to war invalids and sick soldiers’ children.

Remarks at the ceremony, Permanent Vice-chairman Tran Cong Thuat affirmed that this was a significant activity, expressing the tradition “when drinking water, remember its source” and paying great tribute to heroic martyrs, families of war invalids and sick soldiers and revolutionary contributors of Vietcombank and Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper. Permanent Vice-chairman Tran Cong Thuat also expressed his thanks to Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper and Vietcombank in building commemorative temple for martyrs who sacrificed on Truong Son road and house of gratitude for war invalids and martyrs’ families and offering scholarships for local students.

On this occasion, Permanent Vice-chairman Tran Cong Thuat signed a cooperative agreement to implement the program “Nghia tinh truong son” (Sentimental attachment for Truong Son Road) with leader of Quang Binh Vietcombank.
