Soldiers rescue people in floods
Two officers from the Military Command of Quang Ninh District in the central province of Quang Binh rescued more than 50 residents and travelers in a recent flood.
In early October, the flood suddenly came at midnight, submerging many houses of local people in Trung Hamlet, Vo Ninh Commune, Quang Ninh District.
Upon receiving signals from the houses of Mrs Phan Thi Dung and Mrs Hoang Thi Dien, Major Pham Minh Cuong and Senior-Lieutenant Pham Minh Son and two local policemen steered a canoe and rescued all members of her family at midnight.
During the same night, the two officers took part in rescuing 50 passengers on a bus which was swept away by flood waters. The rescued passengers were immediately taken to safe areas.
Soldiers have always been reliable resources for local people in whatever circumstances.
