The delegates were then taken to Gianh port in the Gianh River to visit the old departure of the first ship of the Numberless Fleet captained by Lieutenant Nguyen Bat.
Although it was rainy, many local and students flocked to the port to welcome the delegates.
Veterans and youths visited the Monument of the First Victory of the Vietnam Navy in the Gianh River and offered incense at the Eastern Truong Son Ho Chi Minh Trail Relic Site.
The delegation also met local leaders and visited martyr Tran Van Phuong, who laid down his life in Gac Ma island in 1988 while he was with his comrades trying to protect the Fatherland’s national inviolable sovereignty.
In the evening, delegates and local youths joined in an exchange named “Youth for national seas and islands” in Quang Trach, Quang Binh.
