Two 5,000 year-old stone axes found in Quang Binh

(Quang Binh Website) - The Quang Binh Provincial Museum announced on May 21st that, ancient stone axes have been found in Khe Day and Na Lam villages of Truong Xuan mountainous commune in Quang Ninh district (Quang Binh province).

The V-shaped stone axe was collected in Khe Day village

Most of the objects were discovered by ethnic people of the Bru Van Kieu group while hunting in the jungle.

The first was collected in Ho Nga's house in Khe Day village and the second in Ho Xe in Na Lam village.

The V-shaped stone axes, which have a polished surface, were whittled from yellow silica stone and, as the blades became blunt, were used for digging and cutting plants.

The second stone axe was found in Na Lam village

Archaeological researchers of the provincial museum believe that the objects date to the late Stone Age, about 4,500-5,000 years ago.
