Army units join forces to build new rural area

The Military Youth Commission, under the General Department of Politics, has worked with the military-run telecom group Viettel and Regiment 996 of the Quang Binh Command to finance and build a road, sports field and lighting, worth VND 1.6 billion, in Dai Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh Province, said Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of the Dai Trach People’s Committee.

Of which, there were VND 450 million in cash and 450 working days by 30 troops. After 15 days of construction, the joint unit finished all projects and put them into operation.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Assistant to the Quang Binh High Command’s Youth Council, said that they just returned to their unit after accomplishing a task in a mountainous area. Then they worked in Dai Trach to help local people upgrade a road in response to the campaign “Army units join forces to build rural areas.” Despite the scorching sun, 100 per cent of assigned soldiers and local youths constructed an inter-hamlet road from the Highway 1A to Dai Nam 2 Hamlet, with a length of 1.4 km.

Soldier Pham Duc Huy said that he was proud of contributing his efforts to the road’s construction to create more favourable conditions for local residents’ production.

Although we have now left the area, images of people in Dai Trach and troops at work made a strong impression on me and other reporters.
