Part of the expanded National Highway 1 running through Quang Binh province opened for traffic

(Quang Binh Portal) – The Ministry of Transport on June 2 held an opening ceremony of the part of the expanded National Highway 1 running through Quang Binh province (stretch of road from Km 597+549 to Km 605+000 and from Km 617+000 to Km 641+000) under a Build-Operate-Transfer contract. Deputy Transport Minister Le Dinh Tho attended and cut the ribbons for the opening.

The event was attended by Mr. Luong Ngoc Binh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council; Mr. Nguyen Huu Hoai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, Standing Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, representatives of related agencies.

The project to expand the National Highway running through Quang Trach and Bo Trach districts, Quang Binh province has a total length of 30km with a total investment of over 2,000 billion. The project expanded the road width to 20.5m with as speed limit of 80km per hour.

The project began in April 2013 and finished in April 2015, seven months earlier than scheduled.

On behalf of the leaders of Quang Binh province, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Hoai stressed that the expanded road would play an important role in reducing traffic congestion and accidents on the National Highway running through Quang Trach and Bo Trach districts, Quang Binh province, contributing to promoting socio-economic development of the province.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Transport Minister Le Dinh Tho appraised Tasco Joint-stock Company – the investor, local authorities and residents in Bo Trach and Quang Trach districts and Ba Don town for their cooperation which allowed the project to be completed ahead of scheduled.

“This is one of key projects of the Ministry of Transport in the 2012-2015 period to help increase transportation capacity and enhance national security and defence in the region in general and in the province in particular as well as promote socio-economic exchange between the North and South of Vietnam”, he he said.
