The South Korea-funded solar energy project is carried out in 10 communes in remote areas of Quang Binh province that are not connected to the national grid. The project has a total investment of US$ 13.783 million, of which US$ 12 million comes from ODA (Official Development Assistance) capital of the South Korea while US$ 1.783 million comes from corresponding capital. Until now, some contract packages have been completed while other packages are being implemented.
In the forthcoming time, the Project Management Board and contractors will focus on completing all procedures to import equipment necessary for the solar power plant from the South Korea; building warehouse, headquarter and electric system; installing equipment and giving it a trial run to put into operation and opening a training course for beneficiaries from the project.
Expected to be fully operational by February of 2016, it aims to help border districts reduce poverty as well as ensure social order and security.
Speaking at the meeting, Head of the Steering Board of the project asked the Project Management Board and relevant units to accelerate the project implementation progress on schedule, ensuring quality of the project.
