The FLOW/EOWE project is five-year programme being implemented by the Netherlands Development Organization SNV in Vietnam and Kenya from January of 2016 to December of 2020.
In Vietnam alone, the project is carried out in four provinces of Quang Binh, Binh Thuan, Binh Dinh and Ninh Thuan with a total expenditure of around EUR2 million.
The project's objectives is to advance women's economic participation and self-reliance; create a conducive environment for female entrepreneurship as a vehicle for change.
Besides, the project also aims to enhance capacity to implement gender sensitive policies while tackling socio-economic barries at local level to improve the enabling environment for women's economic empowerment in trade.
In addition, the project will supports small and medium-sized enterprises and some agricultural co-operatives owned by women, or attract many female laborers in businesses, to address inequalities in economic activities.
At the signing ceremony, two sides agreed to ink a MoU to build a framework for cooperation with the target of socio-economic development of the province, helping reduce poverty, strengthen gender equality and respond to climate change.
In the framework of cooperation, the project will conduct the fields, including: agriculture, climate change, agribusiness, gender and women's enterprises, fresh water and environmental sanitation, energy, forest and ecosystem.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee thanked the Netherlands Development Organization SNV for their contributions to poverty alleviation and sustainable development through the projects which was conducted in Vietnam in general and Quang Binh in particular in the past time.
He also expressed his hope that in the forthcoming time, SNV will continue to focus on enhancing capacity to implement activities for development of the project, aiming to create more jobs and improve living conditions for people in Quang Binh.
