Quang Binh boat race held to celebrate National Day

Quang Binh boat race
The boat race on Kien Giang River, Le Thuy District, is an annual event held to promote national unity and sportsmanship in the hometown of General Vo Nguyen Giap. It was originally a part of a traditional festival praying for good weather and abundant crops. Young people participated in the sports as a way to prepare themselves in a struggle against natural disasters.

Racing to the finish line
After the declaration of independence was announced on September 2, the locals started holding a bigger race annually to celebrate National Day. This year, 24 boats participated in the men's race and 9 boats in the women's race. 1,000 people competed on the 24km race for men and 18km race for women.
Phu Thuy team won the race for men, followed by Dai Phong and Loc Thuong teams. For women's race, An Xa team took the top spot, followed by Tuy Loc and My Loc Thuong teams.
