Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant.

The Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project is invested by the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), with the Power Project Management Board 2 (EVNPMB2) acting as the investor's representative. The project is being built at the Quang Trach Power Center, Phu Trach commune, Quang Tri province, and commenced construction in December 2021. The Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project comprises two units with a total installed capacity of 1,403 MW, utilizing USC (supercritical) technology, boasting the highest plant parameters currently in Vietnam. Upon commissioning, the plant will supply the national power grid with approximately 9.1 billion kWh of electricity annually, contributing to national energy security and enhancing the safety and stability of the power system.

In the coming period, EVN and EVNPMB2 will continue to closely coordinate with contractors and relevant units to complete the remaining items, accelerate the commissioning and adjustment process to ensure that Unit 1 operates stably, safely, and efficiently.

The Quang Trach 1 Thermal Power Plant project is expected to be a driving force for annual economic growth in Quang Tri province and the North Central region, thereby contributing to creating favorable conditions for the local development of supporting industries, contributing approximately 1,200 billion VND to the state budget annually, and creating stable, long-term jobs for local workers, especially highly skilled workers.

Regarding environmental protection, the plant will be equipped with comprehensive wastewater, exhaust gas, and dust filtration systems. Therefore, the emission levels after treatment will fully comply with current Vietnamese environmental standards and are equivalent to the standards applied by the World Bank. Environmental parameters from the plant during operation will be transmitted to the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment for online monitoring and publicly displayed at the plant gate 24/7, in accordance with State regulations on environmental management.

Industry experts assess that the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant Project is not only a large-scale power generation project but also plays a leading role in laying the foundation for the future formation and development of the Quang Trach Power Center. With a capacity of 1,403 MW, the project is a pioneering item, taking a step ahead in completing the technical infrastructure, connecting to the power grid, and establishing an operational ecosystem for the entire center.

Furthermore, the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant also plays a pioneering role in ensuring energy security in the North Central region and the entire country, contributing to supplementing a stable base power source and creating room for the sustainable shift in the power source structure. Once operational, the project will not only provide a large amount of electricity to the system but also play a balancing role, supporting the integration of increasingly abundant renewable energy sources.

The Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant Project is one of the key power generation projects in the National Power Development Plan, playing a crucial role in ensuring national energy security and aiming towards the development of a green, clean, and sustainable energy hub.
