103 apricot trees planted at General Vo Nguyen Giap’s grave

(Quang Binh Website) - In response to the “Tet tree-planting” festival to express the gratitude of youth union members for the great contributions of General Vo Nguyen Giap to the home town and the nation, the Standing Committee of the Quang Trach District Youth Union launched a programme to plant 103 yellow apricot trees in front of the grave of late General Vo Nguyen Giap in Vung Chua - Yen Island area, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province.

The 103 apricot trees symbolises the General’s longevity. Once completed, this will be a beautiful and meaningful yellow apricot garden.

As many as 50 apricot trees have already been planted, with the remaining to go into the ground by March.

Over the past years, the “Tet tree-planting” festival has been effectively carried out by Quang Trach District Youth Union. About 4,000 to 8,000 trees are planted yearly. This year, youngsters are striving to plant over 1,000 trees across the district to protect the local environment and surrounding landscape.
