A training course on awareness raising on climate change and REDD+ in Quang Binh

(Quang Binh Website) - The Provincial Forest Management Department in coordination with the Management Board of the "Support for the REDD+ Readiness Preparation in Vietnam" Project in Vietnam on June 23 held a training course on raising awareness on climate change and REDD+.

The course was attended by 40 trainees from PPMU, forest protection departments, national reserve and pilot state forest company to be REDD+ ready in the province.

The "Support for the REDD+ Readiness Preparation in Vietnam" Project was funded by the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) of the World Bank according to the Decision No.58/QD-BNN-HTQT dated Jan 10, 2013.

At the training course, the trainees listened to Doctor. Le Xuan Truong, a lecturer of the Vietnam University of Forestry presenting general introduction on REDD+, activities of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, forest survey, benefit distribution system (BDS); feedback and complaint mechanism, strategic environmental and social assessments for REDD+, building up action plant for REDD+, relation between REDD+ and forest protection and development policy, payments for forest environment services and so on.

This was an opportunity for trainees to raise their awareness of REDD+ in propaganda and implementation of reducing housegreen gas emissions, deforestation and forest degradation, contributing to sustainable management on forest resources and biodiversity protection.

The training course would also contribute to building up the best quality staff for REDD+ project.
