In order to well prepare for the opening of an international air route from Dong Hoi to Chiang Mai (Thailand), in the past time, Quang Binh province has directed the Department of Transportation, Dong Hoi Airport Authority, Dong Hoi Airport and Jetstar Pacific Airlines Joint Stock Aviation Company and other related units to build infrastructure, equipment and human resources. Until now, Quang Binh is ready to open the first international air route from Dong Hoi to Chiang Mai on August 11th with two flights a week on Monday and Friday.

At the meeting, participants discussed many issues relating to the opening of international flight from Dong Hoi to Chiang Mai, such as medical equipment, forces, goods control, conditions for exit and entry, security, tourism promotion, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee stressed that the opening of Dong Hoi - Chiang Mai international air route will meet the traveling demands for people from Central provinces to the Northeast Thailand and attract a large number of foreign tourists to the world's natural heritage site, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, contributing to promoting tourism development, investment and tourist attraction to Quang Binh.

He also highly appreciated all efforts made by Jetstar Pacific Airlines and related agencies in preparing all necessary conditions and procedures for opening new air route.

In order to put the new air route into effective and safe operation, Chairman asked all agencies and units to focus on promoting the new air route; the Department of Tourism to work with the provinces and cities on tourism promotion and cooperation in Thailand for development of the Dong Hoi - Chiang Mai air route; check all works to put into a pilot operation before July 25th, 2017.
